A Call for Connection and Collective Action

On February 19, 2022, Anne and Tony Ferrara and Rob Shetterly of Americans Who Tell the Truth gave a presentation in conjunction with the Brooklin Library . They urged the community to come together in support of climate action.

  • Anne provided an overview of CAN

  • Tony discussed the Connection Project and need for collective action

  • Rob offered his insights into our climate predicament stressing climate justice.

The speakers were at different locations, and, unfortunately, the audio at the library where Tony spoke was faulty. It has been deleted from the video.

Tony grapples with this question

What prevents those of us who accept climate science and Its projections of a dire future from engaging in collective or collaborative action?

Our community is experiencing a greater sense of urgency as related to the climate crisis.

People who accept the science are reducing their carbon emissions through a variety of familiar efforts: installing heat pumps and solar panels, upgrading home insulation, joining community solar, buying an electric or hybrid vehicle, utilizing insulated window panels, planting a vegetable garden, etc.

These efforts are helpful, but, for the most part, are individual responses. The balance of the Tony’s talk was to encourage folks to connect with one of the many climate organizations and experience the value of collective action
